Information Security Essentials
Your Role in Protecting Our Digital Assets.
Information Security (Infosec) is the practice of defending information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, or destruction. In our organization, Infosec is a shared responsibility.
The CIA Triad
Infosec is often conceptualized using the CIA Triad:
Confidentiality: Ensuring that information is not disclosed to unauthorized individuals, entities, or processes.
Integrity: Maintaining the consistency, accuracy, and trustworthiness of data over its entire lifecycle.
Availability: Ensuring that information is available when it is needed.
Your Responsibilities
Data Handling: Classify and handle data according to its sensitivity. Never leave sensitive documents unattended or on unsecured networks.
Access Control: Do not share your login credentials. Always lock your screen when you step away from your computer.
Incident Reporting: Immediately report any suspected security incidents, such as a lost device or a suspicious email, to the IT department.
