Phishing Awareness

Don't Get Hooked by Scammers.

Phishing is a fraudulent attempt to obtain sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details by disguising as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. It is the most common form of cyber attack.

How to Spot a Phishing Email

Check the Sender: Look for unfamiliar or misspelled email addresses.

Sense of Urgency: Be wary of emails that demand immediate action or threaten negative consequences.

Suspicious Links and Attachments: Hover over links to see the actual URL. Never open unexpected attachments.

Generic Greetings: Phishing emails often use generic greetings like "Dear Customer" instead of your name.

Grammar and Spelling Errors: Professional organizations usually proofread their emails carefully.

What to Do

If you suspect an email is a phishing attempt, do not click any links, download attachments, or reply. Report the email using the "Report Phishing" button in your email client or forward it to the IT security team immediately. Then, delete the email.
